My Journey with Hearing Loss

For me, hearing aids are not just medical devices—they are essential tools for living with dignity.

As a child, I suffered from a high fever that damaged my eardrum, causing chronic ear infections. Medical care was not as advanced back then, and the injury left me with long-term hearing problems. Growing up, I often struggled to understand what others were saying, guessing at their meaning and frequently misunderstanding.

Because I couldn’t hear well, I also spoke louder and louder without realizing it, sometimes leaving others with the impression that I was rude or angry. Even simple tasks like seeing a doctor became stressful, as I needed people to repeat themselves many times, or even switch to handwriting so I could understand. Living alone with just my two beloved dogs, I at times felt self-conscious and avoided conversations with others.

It wasn’t about blaming anyone—it was more about blaming myself for not being “normal.” That’s why I finally decided to try hearing aids, to rebuild my confidence and reconnect with life.

Choosing Clinico Hearing Solution

I was introduced to Clinico by doctors at Far Eastern Memorial Hospital after a hearing test. With so many service points across Taiwan, I felt reassured about long-term support, maintenance, and repairs. The professionalism and respect shown by the staff convinced me that I was in the right hands.

Although I’ve only been wearing hearing aids for a few months, the difference has been life-changing. Listening is no longer exhausting, and I enjoy visiting friends again. Conversations flow more naturally, and my confidence has grown. Life feels colorful, open, and joyful once more. Thank you, Clinico Hearing, for helping me rediscover the beauty of sound.

My Loyal Friend, Hei-Zai

I also want to share about my loyal companion—my dog, Hei-Zai. For 12 years, his sharp hearing was my safety net. When the kettle whistled, the phone rang, or the doorbell chimed, he would alert me, saving me from accidents more than once.

But as Hei-Zai aged, his hearing declined. By 13, no matter how loudly I called his name, he no longer responded. I would gently tap him to get his attention, realizing his hearing loss had become even worse than mine. Sadly, at 16, after a car accident, Hei-Zai passed away.

That’s why I truly hope that future advances in technology will one day bring hearing aids to our most loyal friends as well. And to you, Hei Zai — I sincerely wish that in the other world, you are free from illness and pain, living with even greater happiness and joy than you had by my side.
